THE number of foreign visitors to Spain is on the increase.
The government said there were 52.6 million tourists in Spain in 2010, up from 52.5 million in 2009.
It’s the first increase since 2007 following a drop in 2008 when the recession hit.
Despite external factors, such as the volcanic ash cloud and the air traffic controllers strike, Spain has managed to sustain a strong tourist industry.
It also provided a larger than usual contribution to Spain’s GDP for the first time in ten years.
