Hotels and restaurants on the Costa del Sol had a better Easter than expected.
The weather has been on their side, with temperatures nearing 30 degrees last week, and numbers of tourists from other parts of Spain have picked up following the long crisis-induced slump.
Costa hotels look set to average an occupancy rate of 80 per cent and around 500,000 passengers passed through Malaga airport on 3,149 flights by Easter Monday.
“This is a spectacular Semana Santa,” said the president of the hoteliers’ association Aehcos, José Carlos Escribano, adding that the figures augur well for the summer season.
