More good news for the Costa del Sol has emerged from this year’s Fitur tourism trade fair.
BlueBay, a global hotel and resort chain which is based in Marbella, has announced its expansion plans which include the opening of two luxury establishments on Malaga’s coast and an investment of 100 million euros.
BlueBay already has a hotel in Puerto Banús. Sources from the company have signalled that it hopes to have a new “majestic five star hotel” ready by next year, situated in Estepona’s Bulevar de Estepona complex. The 16-storey hotel is to have 120 luxury rooms of which 22 will be large suites.
The establishment – with a “meticulous and modern design” – will have large meeting rooms and an auditorium for 400 people as well as a swimming pool, gymnasium and spa. Facilities also include a padel court and restaurant.
But the company’s jewel in the crown in terms of the Costa del Sol is to open sometime in 2018.
This is to be a hotel categorised as ‘Grand Luxury’ under its most exclusive brand, Blue Diamond.
It will be situated in the Marbella Marina Mall complex (which is being developed by Sheikh Al-Thani) and is to have 200 rooms and suites and 24 floors.
The hotel, with a ground breaking design, is to feature a state of the art spa with all the latest treatments and therapies and a focus on creating a state of well-being.
According to BlueBay the Marbella establishment is planned to “be one of the most luxurious in Europe with world famous iconic status”.
Currently BlueBay has 56 hotels in 28 countries (including these latest two) and has a considerable presence in the Middle East.
Egypt hotel complex
One of its most ambitious projects is the 100 hotel complex it is creating in Marsa Alam on Egypt’s Red Sea which will be the biggest in the world once it is finished.
The massive scheme includes a Spa and Wellness centre, an equestrian centre, a theatre and a beach club and numerous children’s and recreational zones.
